A small guide to the building stones in the city of Basel. Some points of interest are presented in more detail. Thereby one learns which stones were used, where they came from and and how they were transported. On a short excursion we encounter the most important types of rocks which are characteristic as building stones for the city of Basel: From the medieval buildings with sandstones and limestones from the surroundings up to the modern times with exotic Gneisses from India or China.
